Court space planner: will a pickleball court fit in your yard?

Enter the width and depth of the open part of your yard and your city's setbacks from the side and rear lot lines. The planner tells you whether a full 34 × 64-foot court fits, whether the 30 × 60 minimum fits, or whether neither does — and shows which way the court would have to face. Print or save the result and attach it to your quote request.

Path allowance: 3 ft added to one pad dimension for a gate/path (our design assumption).

Doesn't check grade, drainage, trees, utilities, easements, covenants, stormwater rules or distance to neighbors.

How to measure

  1. Width: from one side lot line to the other, across the part of the yard where the court would go. Use a plat or survey if you have one; a tape measure along the fence line works too.
  2. Depth: from the back of the house (or patio, garage or deck) to the rear lot line.
  3. Setbacks: your city's minimum distance from side and rear lot lines for accessory structures or courts. If you don't know it, start with 6 feet — a common figure in this area — and we'll confirm the real number on the site visit.
  4. Obstacles: trees, sheds, pools, septic fields and slopes all take space. Subtract them, or measure only the open area.

What the results mean

Result Meaning
Fits — preferred size A 34 × 64 pad fits inside your setbacks with room left for a path.
Fits — minimum size A 30 × 60 pad fits; the 34 × 64 doesn't. Fully playable, with less run-off.
Fits only without setbacks The minimum 30 × 60 pad fits your yard but crosses the setback line. You'd need a variance or a different spot.
Doesn't fit Neither pad fits. Consider a driveway court, a practice pad or a different part of the property.

The planner also notes whether the court runs north–south (recommended) or would have to run east–west, based on the orientation of your lot that you select.

What it doesn't check

Grade, drainage, trees, utilities, easements, HOA covenants, stormwater rules, and the distance to your neighbors' windows. Those are what the site visit is for.
